Members of Friends of Riverside Gardens (FORGE) presented a petition with nearly 1,500 signatures to Teresa on Friday 1 July as part of the campaign to save the riverside gardens from development plans by Bexley Council.

Teresa has been working with Forge to collect signatures, setting up a street stall in the town centre back in April.

The petition calls on the riverside gardens to be designated a Town Green and protected as a green open space. It urges the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government to allow for greater protection for green areas of local importance to communities in the Localism Bill.

Teresa will formally present the petition to the House of Commons this Wednesday 13 July.
