Teresa Pearce MP today welcomed the granting of planning permission for the development of new homes in South Thamesmead.
Full permission has now been granted for the Housing Zone development by Peabody of 525 units of housing as well as a number of commercial and community spaces, and outline permission has been given for a further 1097 residential units.
Speaking about the development, Teresa said:
“After a lengthy consultation with residents and stakeholders, it is great to see this scheme come closer to a conclusion.
“With this investment and the new Crossrail Station due to open in late 2018, there is exciting opportunities for Abbey Wood and South Thamesmead.
“I welcome the scheme which will deliver a significant amount of much needed new homes and commercial and community spaces. It is also pleasing to see that a significant amount of the development will be affordable housing.”
