Teresa supports vInspired search for the most outstanding young volunteers

Youth volunteering charity vInspired has launched nominations for its annual vInspired National Awards.

Now in its fifth year, the vInspired National Awards, in association with RBS Early Careers, are the biggest of their kind, celebrating the achievements and dedication of young volunteers and the youth workers who support them.

This year, to acknowledge the rise of young entrepreneurs, vInspired has added a new award for the “Most Outstanding Social Entrepreneur”. The categories are:

  •  Best Young Volunteer;
  • All Round Commitment to Volunteering;
  • Bringing Communities Together;
  • Team Activity;
  • Outstanding Contribution by a Youth Worker;
  • Most Outstanding NCS Team;
  • Most Outstanding Social Entrepreneur.

Winners will be rewarded with a star-studded awards ceremony held at the Indig02 in London on the 27th March 2014, with performances from well-known musical acts. Past celebrity attendees have included Tinchy Stryder and The Saturdays, as well as youth icons such as Katie Piper.

Teresa said:

 “These awards provide a great opportunity to celebrate the excellent work of young volunteers across Erith & Thamesmead who give up their spare time to help others. Volunteering not only helps to foster a strong sense of community spirit, but it also invests young people with the transferable skills they need in the work place.

I am very proud of the valuable contributions so many young people make to good causes across my constituency. I would urge anyone who knows a young person who gives up their time for others, or who has overcome difficulties themselves and still wants to help others, to nominate them for these awards.”

Nominations are free and open to anyone in England. For more information, or to nominate someone inspirational, visit the vInspired website. Nominations close on the 24th November 2013.
