Teresa recently presented the Gold Award for Community Retailing to Ushi Vithani from The Front Page shop on Joyce Dawson Way in Thamesmead.
The Front Page was entered for the ‘My Shop Is Your Shop’ competition by the Independent Achievers Academy, which is a business learning and development programme that recognises high performing retailers who achieve outstanding results across 12 different business principles.
The Front Page shop came out on top of the competition this year due to its prominence within the local community. Owner Ushi is very pro-active in marketing his business to customers, and providing a high level of customer service. He is also very active within the independent retail trade in general, ensuring that he enters his shop into trade awards programmes to push himself and learn how to improve and develop.
Teresa Pearce MP said:
“I was delighted to present The Front Page with this award for community retailing. Ushi provides excellent customer service and always takes opportunities to learn how to improve his shop. This commitment really shows and is why he has come out as the top scorer this year – it is a very well deserved award.”
Teresa was so impressed with The Front Page, she will be entering the shop in the Parliamentary Best Small Shop Competition before the deadline in October.
