Today’s Independent Newspaper features a two-page article about Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys in Thamesmead. The article praises the school for the way they engage pupils in discussions about the media and topical news.
The article is very positive and acknowledges the school’s success in moving from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’ in just three Ofsted reports. It contains examples of the pupil’s excellent written critiques of the newspaper and comments on the positive learning environment created by pupils, teachers and staff at the school.
“I’m really delighted that one of our local schools has been recognised in a national paper. It’s great that the kids are encouraged to talk about what’s going on in the world and reported in the newspapers.
“Teachers, staff and pupils all deserve a big congratulations. It’s great to see such a positive representation of Thamesmead and teenage boys in the press.”
