Teresa calls for knife debate after Yemurai Kanyangarara Welling bus murder verdict

Teresa has urged the new London Mayor to come to a knife crime debate in her constituency in the wake of two teenagers being convicted for the killing of schoolboy Yemurai Kanyangarara.

Yemurai was one of Teresa’s constituents and she spoke to the Bexley Times about how many lives have been ruined by one boy unnecessarily carrying a knife.

Teresa said:

“This is a tragedy not just for Yemurai’s family but for the family of the two boys, who are just teenagers themselves. So many lives have been ruined.

“I’ll wait to see who wins the Mayoral election but whoever wins I want them to join in a debate with police and young people to try and stop this kind of thing happening.

“It needs to be led by young people rather than adults to understand the mentality which makes teenagers carry knifes.”
