Teresa encourages local community groups to apply for The People’s Millions

The People’s Millions is a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund and ITV, which gives the public an opportunity to vote for which local community-based projects and groups are awarded up to £50,000 of Lottery funding.

Every night for a week in November, the community groups who make the best applications will battle it out on prime-time ITV regional news for the public vote. Whether or not they succeed, the competition represents a great opportunity to mobilise support and increase awareness of local causes.

The People’s Millions will award up to £50,000 to 76 charitable projects which inspire, involve and improve their local communities, across every region of the UK.

Community groups can either complete the entry form online, or contact the Big Advice Line on: 0845 010 112. The deadline for applications is noon on the 13th May 2013.

Teresa said:

“In the current climate, so many local community-based projects and groups are threatened with closure due to funding issues. This is such a shame, especially given the hard-work and dedication of staff and volunteers who do such excellent work to help people across the constituency.

The People’s Millions offers a great opportunity for these local groups to get a cash injection that will enable them to continue their fantastic work improving our community, and making Erith and Thamesmead an inviting and supportive place to live. I would encourage any local community group eligible to apply to do so as soon as possible.”
