Teresa urges constituents to enter Battle of the Bands 2013 competition

Constituents aged 12 – 19, who are following a full-time or part-time education or training programme, are being encouraged to enter the Battle of the Bands 2013 competition, which is now accepting entries.

The Battle of the Bands competition, run by Young Chamber, aims to foster musical talent, business acumen and increase the confidence of young people through the development and performance of their own material. Entrants can be solo performers, or part of a band, and must perform their original songs.

To enter the competition, bands or perfomers must register online. It is necessary for entrants to submit business plans – outlining how they will raise sponsorship to attend the final in central London – and also upload videos of their performances. The three artists/performers chosen to play at the final will be selected on the strength of their business plans and videos.

The closing date for entries is the 31st May 2013, with the final scheduled to take place in Westminster on the 17th July 2013. The ultimate winner will be chosen by a panel of music industry professionals during the final.

Teresa said:

“I think that the Battle of the Bands offers young people living across Erith and Thamesmead an excellent opportunity to show how talented, dynamic and hard-working they are. I hope that young members of the constituency will consider entering this competition.”
