Teresa Pearce MP urges local people to enter film competition

Teresa Pearce MP wants filmmakers across Erith and Thamesmead to enter the prestigious FILM THE HOUSE Competition.

Film the House is a competition run by MPs to find the best UK filmmakers of the future. It showcases the work of the next generation of writers and directors from across the country.

Entries will be judged by industry professionals with prizes provided by the industry sponsors. In 2017, prizes included mentoring from professionals in the film industry, a private screening of the winners’ films for friends and family classification of the winning films by BBFC.

Speaking about the competition, Teresa Pearce MP said:

“I am calling for local creators to enter this prestigious competition. The Film the House Competition offers an opportunity to put local film makers in direct contact with the movers and shakers of the film industry and to have the best UK Talent take front and centre stage. This is a great opportunity to show the UK, the very best that Erith and Thamesmead have to offer.”

Dates for the 2018 competition are:
• 30 September: Closing date for entries
• 28 January 2019: Shortlist announced
• 2 April 2019: Awards Ceremony, House of Commons London

The categories for the 2018 competition are:
• Best Short Film (under 16)
• Best Short Film (16 and over)
• Best Script (Under 16)
• Best Script (16 and over)
